NORTHWEST DISTRICT AWARDS
The Connecticut Junior Soccer Association
Northwest District has chosen two Torrington residents as
award recipients for 2007. Carol
Gesmondi has been named the
Northwest District's Volunteer of the Year. Carol has been
a volunteer with Torrington Youth Soccer for several years.
She serves on the Board of Directors and is active in both
the recreational and travel programs.
Paul O'Heron has been recognized
as the Division I Coach of the Year for a male team. Paul
currently coaches a U14 Travel Team. He is a former member
of the Board of Directors and has coached within the TYS
program for over 12 years.
Congratulations to both Carol and Paul.
AWARDS Torrington
Youth Soccer is pleased to announce the following award
recipients for 2007:
Nicole Dell'Agnese
has been named Torrington's Referee of the Year. Nicole
is a Freshman at Oliver Wolcott Technical High School.
She has a been a USSF licensed referee for the last three
years.
Scott Rosengrant
and Karen Pfeffer
were named co-recipients of the Kathy Aeschliman Distinguished
Service Award. This award recognizes commitment, effort,
and dedication to the Torrington Youth Soccer Club and
to the young people of Torrington. This award was named
in tribute to Kathy Aeschliman, a long time member of
Torrington Youth Soccer, who passed away in June of this
year. Scott is a member of the TYS Board, TYS Travel Director,
and a coach within the Travel program. Karen is a member
of the TYS Board, resigning President of TYS, Registrar,
and a coach within the Recreational program. Both have
served TYS for many years.
IN
MEMORY . . .
Sadly on June 8, 2007, Torrington Youth Soccer lost one
of its most active supporters and volunteers. Kathleen Aeschliman,
a backbone of our organization, passed away leaving behind
a group of players, parents, and volunteers who were better
for simply having been in contact with her. She will be
missed. We know that she is waiting for us on the sidelines
of a freshly mowed and lined soccer field where the temperature
is a perfect sunny yet cool day without a hint of rain.
Kathy, we will see you there...
